I’ve had a problem with my weight since
I was twelve years old. I am now fifty-five and for most of my life
I continued having this problem.
Back in the 60’s the big fad was the Low Calorie Diet where you had
to count this and count that to make sure you stayed within the
caloric boundary, kind of like a football game but only keeping the
yardage at a certain limit within the sidelines before going for the
touchdown.
It saddens me to say that I was not successful in my attempt to lose
the unhealthy weight I was carrying around by using a Low Calorie
Dieting Plan. It just didn’t work for me. Believe it or not I found
out that eating foods low in calories is one of the worst things to
put your body through because it actually slows down your body's fat
burning capability, destroying the possibility of shedding the
unwanted weight. The truth of the matter is, diets which are low in
calories will have you dropping a few pounds of weight in the
beginning and after that quick but small amount of weight comes to a
standstill. It seems that you’re stuck there with no further
progress seen, at least not for a while. In other words you come to
a plateau where it really seems like the end of the line for weight
loss. A body needs food to function and the key is to fuel the body
with healthy food and appropriate amounts of it.
Foods with high fat content – My Enemy?
Low Fat Diets were not the answer either. I have known for many
years that foods low in fat were thought to be the key to losing
weight and they have been around for over fifteen years but the
amount of overweight people seems to be rapidly increasing with
time. It is evidence enough for me to see that trying to eat only
foods with as little fat as possible is not the answer to
successfully losing weight, at least not for me.
Yes, I even did the Jenny Craig and Weight Watcher Dieting programs
but I seemed to have had a problem with the plans which meant slower
dieting progress in a time span too lengthy for me, seeing that
these programs normally shoot for two or three pounds of weight loss
over the course of a week. With the Jenny Craig program I also had
to buy particular meals and even take dietary supplements at the
start of the program. I had a few friends that actually liked these
types of dietary programs but I was looking for a dieting plan which
focused on faster weight loss, such as the Accelerated Fat Burning
Program shown below...
In my quest to find exactly what suited me best, the Atkins’ Low
Carb Plan was brought to my attention. I just knew this was the end
of my search and that I was about to start on my journey to ridding
myself of the unwanted, unhealthy extra weight that I was carrying.
But to no avail. I found myself pretty much right back where I
started for some reason or another.
Perhaps I am not alone and you may feel it almost impossible to slim
down and be healthy and fit by following a plan with Low Carbs.
Almost everywhere you go now a days you’ll be able to find a menu
with meals that are Low in carbs as they are very popular and very
celebrated by many. There are a few hang-ups however such as some of
the menus leave no room for variation and often people cheat and
chalk it up to not have a big enough selection, at least for the
people that don’t want to
feel like they’re punishing themselves. If a person is not careful,
a low carb menu will take from the body that energetic feeling that
it gets from carbohydrates, making it incredibly hard to stay with
the program long enough to really see results. Here lies the problem
with most diets that are minimal in their allowance of carbohydrate
which can have people reluctant about trying a low carb diet and if
trying one, making it very hard to stick with it.
JOY TO THE WORLD! After all these years of searching for what would
work for me, just two years ago I was fortunate enough to find the
one and only plan for losing weight that successfully worked for me.
It was a long haul but I refused to give up. There had to be some
plan that would work like a hand in glove for me. Don’t give up on
yourself or the possibility of what will work for you. Perhaps my
share of searching and trials will pay off for you. Find out if what
