Exercise Workout Plans

Many people set themselves goals to lose weight with exercise workout plans or diets, particularly after Christmas as a new year's resolution. Unfortunately most give up very quickly, before they start to see results.

One of the most common reasons for failure is that little thought is given to the method of losing weight, let alone a structured plan. Research has shown time and time again that people have the best chance of successfully losing weight, and keeping it off long term by knowing exactly what they need to do before beginning any diet of additional exercise.

Quite simply, the formula for weight loss is burning more calories than you ingest. In order to make sure that you achieve this objective you first need to understand how many calories you consume in a day. Typically, healthy adults of ideal weight consume around two thousand calories per day (men consume more than women on average, but this is a good rounded figure to work with).

If you regularly consume more than an average calorie intake, you should aim for a reduction in your eating habits over a period of time. Suddenly cutting out a huge number of calories is not a good idea because you will feel hungry and it may even be dangerous to your health. At the same time, you should devise exercise workout plans which also accelerate in intensity over time. Start out with gentle exercise designed to raise your heart rate slightly and become slowly more intense.

If you have a large amount of weight to lose or are unfit to begin with, you should run your plans past your doctor before commencing your weight loss plan. They will be able to let you know about any risks associated with losing weight and help you to design your exercise workout plans safely.
