Do You Need Fat Loss?

by Gary Holdon

Hi fatso. So you want to lose weight huh? Who doesn't. In America body weight is becoming a serious problem. More than 64% of men are either overweight or obese. That is huge, and we can't sugar coat the problem any more to protect people's feelings. If you are overweight it is your fault. You can't blame McDonalds for serving fatty burgers - it was you that ate them. It's not your bosses fault for making you work long hours at a desk - you took the job, and you probably drive the two blocks to work and play video games in your lunch break. It's not your parents fault for not hugging you enough when you were a kid, or feeding you the wrong foods - right now - the person responsible for what you eat and do is YOU. If fat loss is a serious goal of yours, then it is you that needs to look at eating health food instead of convenience food. It is you that needs to invest in exercise equipment instead of computer games. This is 'fat loss 4 idiots' and it starts with having the guts(no pun intended) to admit that being overweight is your problem, and finding a solution is the responsibility of you and someone else.

Let's start with what you are eating. We live in a hectic society, and one of the by-products of that is that we tend to eat convenience food rather than preparing ourselves low fat nutritious meals. Here's the thing: If you are sick of all that body fat and serious about making a change, you will spend the extra time preparing proper food, and when you start doing this you will lose fat. You may need to take some nutritional supplements to begin with to help your body get the vitamins and fuel it needs to fight off all those years of eating junk, but ultimately you need to develop a diet that will assist you losing weight. And I'm not talking about diet pills here. A diet pill is a dangerous shortcut. Everyone has an ideal body weight, and if you eat the correct foods you will gravitate towards that weight, and when you reach it you will stay at it. We are not talking crash diets here, we are talking eating healthily.

Now, suppose you are really serious about losing weight and followed what I have said above. Good for you. Let's talk about speeding up the process. You can get a gym membership and burn the fat off at a much faster rate. Gyms are not all about muscle building, there are plenty of courses, machines and exercises you can use to burn fat. When you start at a gym and you are overweight you should ignore the temptation to try and build muscle for a little while and concentrate on the fat burners. Muscle growth can come later. Your local gym will be able to put together an exercise program that will make the best use of the exercise equipment in order to help you with your fat loss. But once again, here's the thing: A gym member ship is only good if you use it. Paying a gym every month will not help you lose fat. Only going to the gym regularly and pushing yourself will do that. The Gym Association estimates over 30% of their paying customers haven't visited the gym for over a month. Those people are wasting money and getting no results. Don't become one of them.
