Being obese is not fun, but it is also not uncommon. If you are overweight or obese in the USA you are actually part of the majority. More people are of an unhealthy weight than at their correct body weight. Americans have become used to being able to access 'quick and easy' solutions and so think they can find one for their body image dissatisfaction problems. When they have calorie count for a few weeks without dramatic results, or limit themselves to low carb food without understanding the reasons for doing so, they will often give up on their weight loss plan before giving it time to do it's thing.
If you are serious about getting over your weight problem, you will need to map out a serious weight loss plan, and then stick to it for a reasonable length of time. It starts with healthy eating, and that doesn't necessarily mean blindly going out and buying all the low carbohydrate or low calorie food you can lay your hands on. You will need to talk to a specialist about what you need as part of your diet. Talk about high protein food and see if you can develop a meal plan that promotes healthy eating but is still interesting and tasty enough to have you looking forward to meals. This is a problem many people run into. They try to commit to extreme weight loss plans, and find themselves losing pounds for a short while, but the food is so different to what they are used to that they find themselves dreading meal time. When a weight loss plan goes down this path the dieter will begin justifying breaking the diet as 'not cheating' for a variety of reasons. Whatever the reasons, the diet is over as they will begin eating more and more of what they want, rather than what the diet has outlined.
Diet is extremely important, so it's vital your meal plan is something that you will enjoy. However diet is not the only part of a successful and enjoyable weight loss plan. Alongside healthy eating you also need to incorporate exercise for the best opportunity of burning body fat. If you want to know your body fat calculate it and then ask your gym trainer to plan an exercise weight loss plan for you. When you combine healthy food with a good regular fitness workout you move from having loose weight loss goals to having a real weight loss plan.
Once you workout training times you need to commit to them. Many people will tell you they don't go to the gym because they don't have time. If they were serious about losing weight they would make the time, and you need to do the same thing. Make the gym the one immovable event you plan the other distractions in your life around. Always push yourselves harder each session than you did the session before, whether it be on the treadmill or doing one more set of your least favorite ab exercise. Weight loss is not about quick fixes, rapid drops in pounds or easy solutions. It is about committing to building a better you, and sticking to that commitment.
